Quick answer
An apostille is the certification, under the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention, that lets a Cyprus public document be accepted in other member countries without further legalisation. Through Themis e-Services you can add an apostille to Cyprus company certificates for EUR 30 per certificate + VAT, with courier delivery of the originals for EUR 50 per order + VAT.
What is an apostille?
An apostille is a certificate attached to a public document confirming the signature, capacity and seal on it. Under the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention, a document carrying an apostille is accepted in other member countries without further legalisation by an embassy or consulate. Cyprus is a party to the Convention.
When do Cyprus company documents need one?
An apostille is usually requested when a Cyprus company document is used outside Cyprus, for example:
- Opening a bank account for a Cyprus company abroad.
- Registering a branch, subsidiary or property interest in another country.
- Court, notarial or transactional use in another jurisdiction.
The receiving authority or bank decides whether an apostille is needed, so check with them first. Countries that are not party to the Convention may require consular legalisation instead.
Which documents can be apostilled through Themis?
- Company certificates: Good Standing, Shareholders, Directors and Secretary, Registered Office, Share Capital and Certificate of Incorporation.
- Memorandum and Articles of Association, in Greek or English.
